Today, Tuesday, April 8
Today’s hearing schedule has been modified with hearings cancelled in the House Energy Committee, and the House Environment Committee. But there is still a very important meeting at 3 pm in Room 1150, Senate Office Building. We need you ALL to make calls before this meeting, and if possible attend.
Call Senate Committee members and pack the room at 3 pm for the Senate Environment Finance Meeting, 1150 Minnesota Senate Bldg.
There 3 senators really need to hear from you this morning.
Chair Hawj, 651-296-5285
Senator Grant Hauschild, 651-296-1789
Senator Tom Hoffman, 651-296-4154
Two key bills will be heard:
Ask Senate Committee members to amend SF 2077 to:
Include SF 1247 which recognizes the inherent rights of uncultivated wild rice to exist and thrive in Minnesota.
Include two key provisions from SF1245 to protect public lands for ALL stakeholders because it already includes $1.3 million to expand the OHV trails.
Access to designated and posted trails only to help riders consistently know where they can ride and protect sensitive habitats.
Tribal approval on off highway vehicle projects and local input on project alignment
Remove SF570, the “permission to pollute” bill. This dangerous bill would create unrealistic deadlines for permitting, limit public input, and allow construction of a project before a separate permit to operate has been obtained.
Not include S.F. 1393 Mathews, a bill to allow mega data centers to use dirty diesel backup generators without getting a Certificate of Need from the PUC.
Please help spread the word about this urgent action alert! It is our last, best chance to get a good bill out of this committee.
In unity,
Veda and Greg
