Immediate Action Needed: On April 16, the U.S. Senate voted 50-49 to approve Republican Congressman
What kind of future do we want? The DFLEC prefers the one with clean water. The Republican Party disagrees.

The Current Situation
On April 16, the U.S. Senate voted 50-49 to approve Republican Congressman Pete Stauber’s (MN-08) resolution to overturn the 20-year moratorium on copper-nickel sulfide mining on federal land in the Boundary Waters watershed.
Once again, Congressional Republicans have betrayed the people of Minnesota - and all Americans who love our public lands - in favor of their billionaire owners. Trying to force this extremely polluting type of mining down our throats is what we’ve come to expect from this anti-clean water Republican Congress.
We’re confident that Minnesotans - who overwhelmingly support protecting the BWCA - will make their disapproval known at the ballot box in November. We thank all of Minnesota’s DFL members of Congress for voting on the right side of history.
But let us be clear: this fight is far from over. With this federal failure, Minnesota’s environmental laws are now more important than ever, and we must strengthen them to protect the BWCA, Lake Superior, and all of our waters. We ask Minnesotans who oppose Pete Stauber’s Boundary Waters betrayal to join our fight to reclaim and enlarge the DFL trifecta this fall.
Immediate action you can take.
From Friends of the Boundary Waters:
As Congress threatens to overturn Boundary Waters protections, Minnesota has the power to push back. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources can cancel Twin Metals’ state mineral lease. And its leaders need to hear from you. As Twin Metals has failed to meet lease requirements, DNR has both the legal authority and fiduciary duty to act. Your voice matters. Tell DNR to exercise Minnesota’s authority, stand up against federal overreach, and protect the irreplaceable Boundary Waters for generations to come.
Go here and do this thing to help save the boundary waters!!

The fight for clean water doesn’t belong to any one organization — it belongs to all of us.
Join us on Earth Day at the Minnesota State Capitol for a morning rally celebrating the movement to protect Minnesota’s water, wilderness, and wild places. We’ll hear from advocates and community leaders who are working on the frontlines of some of the most important environmental fights in the state — and we’ll make some noise together.
This is a moment to connect, to uplift the voices doing this work every day, and to remind our elected officials that Minnesotans are paying attention. Free and open to the public.
