Scientific Integrity & Supports of Federal Science Hill Day
Defend Science.
Demand Accountability.
Make Your Voice Heard on Capitol Hill.
The Union of Concerned Scientists is organizing a Scientific Integrity Hill Day on July 21–23, 2025 and we need advocates like you to speak directly to lawmakers about the urgent need to protect science in policymaking.
Since January, science has been sidelined, manipulated, and suppressed across federal agencies—putting public health, the environment, and our democracy at risk. Now is the time to ensure that scientific integrity is not just a principle, but a reality. We must urge Congress to do more in defense of federal agencies and to pass the Scientific Integrity Act.
When is Hill Day?
Date: July 21–23, 2025
Location: Capitol Hill, Washington, DC (in-person meetings with Congressional offices)
Who: Scientists, experts, and advocates for evidence-based policy
Why: To urge Congress to pass and strengthen legislation that upholds scientific integrity, supports federal scientists, and ensures government decisions are grounded in facts—not politics.
Policy Goals:
During Hill Day, UCS advocates will call for:
Stronger Scientific Integrity Legislation: Ensure that federal science is protected from political interference by passing the SI Act
Protections for Federal Scientists: Urge against bills that will dismantle the EPA's ability to use the best available science such as the integrated risk information system or the office of Research and Development within the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
