DFLEC EMERGENCY ACTION NEEDED: Sensible Protection For Our Wild Lands
Please send this email to your representatives in the state legislature TONIGHT (Sunday) or at least by Tuesday Morning. Thanks!
HF2791/SF1324, authored by Kristi Purcell in the House and Kelly Morrison in the Senate contain common sense measures to protect water and habitats from overuse by Off-Highway Vehicles. The bill is likely to be heard this week in the Senate, and we need our members to push for its support.
Please send your Representative and your Senator an email that looks like this. Please vary the email to suit your own preferences and make them look a little different from each other.
Dear Representative (or Senator):
As a constituent of your district, I am in full support of HF2791/SF1324 and I hope you will actively advocate for its inclusion in the appropriate environmental committee’s omnibus finance bill.
HF2791/SF1324 is chief authored by Rep. Kristi Pursell and Sen. Kelly Morrison. It contains common-sense measures for habitat and water protection while allowing for a balanced approach to future development of Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) trails on public land. Specifically, HF2791/SF1324 includes the following:
* OHV access on signed trails only; helps riders know where they can ride
* Buffers that codify DNR and USFS guidelines for water protections
* EAW requirement to protect sensitive areas, improve public transparency, and reduce lawsuits
* Tribal and local government involvement early in the planning process

* Consistency: trail rules south of Hwy 2 would apply to the whole state
With inclusion of HF2791/SF1324 in the environmental committee omnibus finance bill, we will be able to protect and sustain Minnesota’s outdoor heritage for generations to come. Please advocate for HF2791/SF1324.
